Iraq Open Data

Iraq Open Data is a collection of  (397) datasets relating to gender and policy issues in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. The datasets were collected by Internews team, talented Iraqi journalists, and civil society members who participated in the Open Iraq Initiative (Data Journalism Program), an initiative sponsored by Internews. Participants were trained to transform publicly accessible data, obtained from governmental and non-governmental organizations, into stories and actionable policy recommendations. The ultimate objective of this project is to promote evidence-based policy- and decision-making, and the participation of Iraqi women in governance through data-driven storytelling. MERI is pleased to host the dataset collection on its website and make the stories available to the end-users. The stories are of variable nature and structure, not designed to be academic papers. Instead, they are written in a storytelling style to contextualize the presented datasets.
