Recovery in Nineveh: Impediments and Ways Forward

The Middle East Research Institute (MERI) is pleased to announce that it will hold a roundtable discussion for a high level delegation from the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), including:

  • Mr Mike Yaffe, Vice President of the Middle East and Africa Centre,
  • Mr Elie Abouaoun, Director of the Middle East & North Africa Programs
  • Mr Sarhang Hamasaeed, the Director of Middle East Programs.

The aim is to discuss various pressing issues related to stabilization, barriers to the return of internally displaced people, reconciliation between and within communities, and forthcoming elections, with the goal of highlighting opportunities for constructive engagement.

The event will be attended by key stakeholders from the Nineveh province including the governor’s office, provincial council members and representatives from the area’s minority communities.
