The Dutch Consul General visits MERI

“European countries could condition their assistance to demands of nation-building, democratisation and confidence-building between parties here”.

“Kurdistan Region inherited a system from the previous regime that is incompatible with the current and future aspirations of its people. The crises we face offer opportunities, which we have yet not benefited from.”

The delegation highlighted the Institute’s projects which were designed to contribute to peace, stability, nation building, human rights and democratisation in the region, and provide political briefings regarding Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

“Women in the Kurdistan Region became warriors in the fight against ISIS, they are combatants, activists and builders of peace, reconciliation and recovery”.

MERI Forum 2015 Begins

The Forum will host distinguished policymakers, academics and journalists from the Middle East, the United States and Europe to provide cutting-edge analysis and critical insights with respect to political, economic and social developments in Iraq, the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, and the wider Middle East.

The workshop hosted by MERI aimed to identify the challenges hampering the provision of appropriate healthcare for the population in need across Iraq and Kurdistan Region and to propose viable solutions.

The Kurdistan Region of Iraq should be proud of its reputation as a guardian of minorities, providing at risk groups with security and shelter.
