The ultimate objective of the research is to better understand the challenges to reconciliation and highlight potential triggers of conflict in liberated areas, which in turn helps to inform and guide future reconciliation efforts by the USIP.

MERI should produce quality research that identifies the roots of the most pressing issues and offer targeted solutions for policy-makers.

MERI ranked 58 out of 398 organisations in the MENA Region. MERI also became the highest ranked think tank in Iraq, where 31 think tanks are known to operate.
