The thesis focuses on Turkey’s foreign policy toward its neighbouring countries, including the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and puts forward an innovative explanation of Turkish foreign policy change based on the study of risk-seeking and risk-averse behaviours of Turkish policy entrepreneurs, such as that of the incumbent President of the Turkish Republic, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The study draws on the propositions of prospect theory over risky behaviour. During his research, he was awarded the Gregory Tzirakian scholarship as well as the European Institute studentships.
